Explore the traditional rub-out technique using gouache to create depth, texture, and visual interest. Students will apply layers of paint to illustration board and selectively remove the gouache to reveal highlights and dimensional forms. This hands-on process introduces a unique approach to illustration while encouraging experimentation, creativity, and personal expression.

Meet the Artist
Stan Kim is a multidisciplinary artist, designer, and educator brings a process-focused teaching style to art-making, design, emphasizing unique development to bring the best results. He has a BFA in Industrial Design from Chungang University in South Korea and Studied Transportation Design, Fine Art, & Illustration at Academy of Art University. He’s worked as an industrial designer for various Industrial and Automobile companies but also as an instructor at art studios with more than 20 years of experiences.
