Gouache is an opaque water-based paint that combines the fluid versatility of watercolor with the rich, matte coverage of acrylic. It is both beginner-friendly and great for advanced learners as it dries rapidly and can be easily reactivated with water to make corrections. Specific techniques–flat wash, wet on wet blending, dry brushing, layering–will be demonstrated to create illustrative and expressive images for portrait, still life, and landscape painting.
