This workshop is part of a series of programs offered as part of our 250th celebration of contemporary crafts, called Mill to Mill.

Our March Radical Embroidery workshop was such a success, and so much fun, we are offering a Part 2!

For those who attended the first one, bring your ‘work in progress’ to continue and finish. There is always something else to add to a stitching project to bring it to the next level. Learn new 3D stitches to add texture and dimension. Practice the tried and true embroidery stitches taught in class, alongside other participants for encouragement, with step-by-step, one-on-one instruction.

If you missed the first class, you’ll come at noon to start your own radical embroidery and learn some classic embroidery stitches, new techniques using India ink markers and fabric swatches, and find out what it means to radically stitch before Part 2 begins. If you didn’t attend the first workshop, please register for Radical Embroidery Part 1 & 2.

Meet the Artist

Susan Bleignier is a textile artist, painter and educator. Her work includes hand stitching repurposed fabric inspired by nature and happy things. Texture and color are a huge part of her art aesthetic. She sews wool flowers, trees and scrappy fabric collages using found bits and pre loved textiles. She values individuality and believes perfection is boring and wonky is where it’s at! She has a passion for sharing art making with her high school students, at workshops in an arts based camp in Maine, and at local art markets.
