Job Description: Teaching Artists and Art Historians
Reports to: Director of Education and Community Engagement
Position Summary
The Hunterdon Art Museum is seeking experienced teaching artists who will bring creativity, great
teaching skills, and a positive attitude to our education program for adults and kids. We employ
outstanding staff and instructors who will support and enhance our mission. Resumes are accepted on
an ongoing basis, but we are looking to hire several new teachers for the fall term, starting Sept. 9th.
Work Schedule
Days, evenings, and weekend positions are available.
Responsibilities
• Work with the Education Coordinator and Director of Education and Community Engagement to create
new, exciting studio art classes as well as art appreciation classes.
• Create a positive, welcoming, inclusive atmosphere in the classroom.
• Be creative in your approach to teaching.
• Responsible for setting up and cleaning up your classroom/space as well as maintaining the studio
organization system.
• Create lesson plans, materials lists, and program descriptions.
Skills and Abilities
• Excellent teaching skills in one or more of the following mediums and/or processes: drawing, painting,
sculpting, printmaking, jewelry design, fiber arts, collage, and art history. Other arts-related areas
considered.
•Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to work independently
•Must be a team player, friendly, and have the ability to work with students with varying skill levels.
We are particularly seeking instructors who have experience working with older adults/seniors.
Job Type: Part-time
Salary: $32.00 per hour, plus an incremental raise for each student above 6.
• Teaching Experience: 1 year (Preferred)
• Education: Art-related Degree (Preferred)
Work Location: HAM and sometimes at community organizations and schools offsite.
