Liz Mitchell is a New Jersey-based multi-media artist who masterfully weaves together a broad range of materials and processes to tell her unique visual stories. Her work features innovative layering techniques, resulting in stunning installations and mono prints that are truly one-of-a-kind.
Mitchell chooses her materials with intention, creating a unique atmosphere around each piece’s storyline. Her portfolio showcases a diverse range of scales, from small handmade books to site-specific installations.
Each year, the juror of HAM’s annual Members Exhibition selects an artist from that show who will be the subject of the following year’s Member Highlight Exhibition. In 2021, juror Kristen J. Owens, the Associate Curator (Programs) at Paul Robeson Galleries, Express Newark, Rutgers University- Newark, chose Liz Mitchell.
