Join us at HAM for an enlightening evening with Val Sivilli, as she discusses the work in her latest exhibition, BEASTS of Hunterdon County. The gallery talk will take place on Thursday, August 8, from 6 to 7 PM, offering a unique opportunity to explore the compelling narratives and bold representations showcased in her work.
BEASTS of Hunterdon County presents a striking collection where the wild and the domestic blur, challenging our perceptions of the natural world. In this exhibition, Val Sivilli elevates the beast, both in scale and concept, to mirror, if not surpass, the human presence. Through her expansive canvases, Sivilli confronts viewers with the primal and untamed aspects of animals, compelling us to reconsider their roles in our lives and cultures.
Animals, often collected and domesticated, appear in our zoos, homes, and stories, transformed into tamed versions far removed from their true essences. Sivilli’s work reclaims these creatures’ formidable and autonomous spirits, depicting them as central figures, unbound by human expectations and narratives. Her pieces challenge the viewer to acknowledge the profound impact and relevance animals hold in our human-dominated environments.
We kindly request your RSVP for this event.
