Doors open at 6 pm for a wine reception in the lobby. The panel discussion begins at 6:30 pm with time for a Q&A afterwards. Wine will generously be provided by the Cree Wine Company of Hampton, NJ.

Meet the Panelists:

Lavett Ballard is a mixed media artist who describes her work as a re-imagined visual narrative of African descent people. Her use of imagery reflects social issues affecting primarily Black women. Her current body of work uses collaged photos adorned with paint, oil pastels, and metallic foils.

Tawny Chatmon has captured the regality of Black youth through the lens of photography and the layering of mixed media materials. Chatmon’s work primarily focuses on creating a safe and healing space for Black childhood in western society, which is feared and often indistinguishable from Black adulthood.

Dr. Myrtis Bedolla is the proprietor and visionary founder of Galerie Myrtis, an emerging blue-chip gallery specializing in works by African American and African Diasporic artists. With a career spanning over three decades as a gallerist, art advisor, and curator, Bedolla has made significant contributions to the art world.
