Art tells the story of humanity. Across thousands of years, artists have documented cultures, challenged traditions, explored identity, and transformed the way we see the world. In Project: Art History, students investigate major artistic movements and influential works through hands-on studio projects inspired by artists from prehistoric times to the twentieth century.
Each class combines art historical inquiry, visual analysis, discussion, and studio practice. Rather than copying famous artworks, students will examine the ideas, materials, and techniques that shaped each period before creating original works informed by those traditions. Along the way, they will build technical skills while developing a deeper understanding of how art reflects culture, innovation, and personal expression.
Meet the Artist
Sarah Vincent Brutesco holds a B.A. in Classics from the University of Arkansas and is pursuing her M.A. in Art History at Columbia University. With over five years of museum experience and a background in studio teaching, she loves helping children explore their creativity through hands-on artmaking. Sarah believes deeply in art’s ability to connect people—strengthening community bonds while encouraging personal growth and self-expression.
