Job Description: Summer Camp Art Instructor
Reports to: Director of Education and Community Engagement
Position Summary
The Hunterdon Art Museum is seeking experienced teaching artists who will bring creativity, great teaching skills, and a
friendly attitude to our summer camp education program for kids, ages 5-14 (divided into 5-9 and 10-14). Instructors will
work with the Education Coordinator and Director of Education and Community Engagement to offer engaging camp
sessions. While we will continue to provide the popular drawing, painting, and sculpting sessions (with a fresh
perspective), we are particularly seeking new topics and mediums.
Work Schedule
Summer, one or more weeks: June 16th – August 15th, 2025
Week 1: 6/16-6/20 Week 2: 6/23-6/27 Week 3: 6/30-7/3 (short holiday week)
Week 4: 7/7-7/11 Week 5: 7/14-7/18 Week 6: 7/21-7/25
Week 7: 7/28-8/1 Week 8: 8/4-8/8 Week 9: 8/11-8/15
AM sessions: 9 am – 12 pm PM sessions: 1 – 4 pm (see arrival time expectations below)
Responsibilities
• Create a positive, welcoming, inclusive atmosphere
• Be creative in your approach to teaching
• Set up and clean up your space, as well as maintain materials organization system
• Create lesson plans, materials lists, and session descriptions and submit them by given deadline
• Arrive 30 minutes early on the first day of the session (Monday) and 15 minutes early thereafter (for which you’re paid)
Skills and Abilities
• Competency in teaching one or more art mediums and/or processes
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to work independently
• Must be a team player, friendly and have the ability to work with students with varying skill levels
Experience
• Bachelors of Arts in Education, Fine Arts, Art Education, or related field preferred (may be in progress)
• Experience working with youth required – in a camp or classroom setting preferred
• Experience teaching art required
Work Location: Hunterdon Art Museum – sessions will be held in the 4th-floor studios.

• Some standing, walking, bending, frequent use of hands, stooping, and light lifting (at least 25 pounds) is needed
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
Job Type: Part-time, 16.5 hours per week (except July 4th week, 13.25 hours)
Salary: $32/hour, or $528/week ($424 for July 4th week)
