Job Description: Summer Camp Assistant
Reports to: Director of Education and Community Engagement
Position Summary
Hunterdon Art Museum is seeking a Summer Camp Assistant to work from June 2nd through August 20th, 2025
(off July 4th). The Summer Camp Assistant will work closely with the Museum’s Director of Education and
Education Coordinator to help manage and facilitate summer art camps. This is a great job for a college student
or recent graduate.
Work Schedule
Hours before/after camp is in session are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hours when camp is in session are
Mondays, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Tuesdays – Fridays, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or when clean-up is finished.
Hours may vary depending on the needs of the Education Department’s staff.
Responsibilities
• Assisting HAM’s education staff to ensure that all facets of summer art camp run smoothly
• Overseeing a volunteer staff and ensuring that they are fulfilling tasks needed for the efficient operation of the camp
each day
• Supervising campers ages 5 – 15
• Acting as a liaison between the Education Department, art faculty, and volunteer staff
• Overseeing secure and safe check-in/out of campers each day
• Participating in all areas of camp: this could include working closely with teachers, instructing campers,
speaking with families/guardians, maintaining studios, clerical work, setting up and taking down equipment,
including tables and chairs
• Preparing and moving materials such as art supplies
• Assisting with other HAM programs and tasks as needed
Qualifications
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Google Drive, and the ability to learn new databases is required
• An interest in art, education, and working with students, ages 5 – 15
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Be a hands-on team player willing to pitch in
• Represent the Museum in a positive way to the public

• Some standing, walking, bending, frequent use of hands, stooping and light lifting (at least 25 pounds) is
needed
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but can at times become loud
• Camp sessions are held outside under tents, except in extreme weather conditions
Job Type: Full-time, temporary, non-exempt position
Pay: $15.50/hr
