The human figure historically has served as the inspiration for artists as well as an essential reference for students to develop their drawing and painting skills. In this intensive course, instruction in painting the full nude figure is offered as well as instruction in elements of portraiture and other aspects of representing the human figure. Instruction in proportion, anatomy and tips on creating a likeness are offered via studio sessions, group and individual critiques and historical references. Students work from live nude and portrait models for seven sessions as well as casts and other references for two sessions. Open to students of all levels and all medium. 860 Art of Glass Fusing Workshop

Explore, create and learn about an art that has been around for centuries. Express your own individual creativity while learning the steps of how fused glass art is made. You will learn how to safely cut and break glass to use in your design. The subtleties presented by the human figure have been an inspiration and learning tool for artists throughout history. This intensive course offers students of all levels the opportunity to learn aspects of portraiture. 888 Demonstation from Liquitex : Acrylic Mediums

Unlocking the Possibilities of Acrylic Paint
Join artist and Liquitex Education Advisor Amy Faris for another fascinating program! This technical presentation on the use of acrylic mediums is designed to help artists develop a clear understanding of how to get the most from their materials. Using products from the Liquitex Acrylic line, Faris will provide information on the optimum use of acrylic mediums. A variety of acrylic techniques will be discussed, including glazing with acrylics, making photo transfers and using texture gels as grounds. Teachers, this is a great program for professional development hours!

Patterned after European academy drawing classes, this intensive course offers solid instruction in basic drawing. Through lectures, group and individual critiques, and historical references, your instructor, formerly of the New York Academy of Art, provides all the essential tools to help you improve your drawing skills. The subtleties of line, tone and composition, and the methods and materials of the great masters are examined. A great class for both beginners and experienced students. 884 Portrait and Figure Painting

The subtleties presented by the human figure have been an inspiration and learning tool for artists throughout history. This intensive course offers students of all levels the opportunity to learn aspects of figure and portrait painting. After introductory sessions in drawing, students will be encouraged to work in the color medium of their choice. Instruction in proportion, color theory as it relates to flesh tone, elements of human anatomy, and creating a likeness are all included via group and individual critiques, along with other basic and advanced principles of figure painting. No nude models. Bring drawing materials to first session. Model fee: approx. $30

885 Painting: Pushing the Limits

Not your conventional painting course! Challenging traditional notions of painting, this class ignores the usual "rules" of painting and gives imaginations a chance to soar by applying new methods to the artistic process. Discuss contemporary art for inspiration and examine underlying concepts, using the ideas as a springboard for your own work. Beginners are welcomed. This course is for students at any skill level who are open to learning how to work in unconventional ways. Materials list.

921 Open Studio: Charcoal, Paint, Watercolor

Pick your favorite medium and set aside Tuesday evenings for building your drawing and painting skills. In this relaxed, intimate class beginning and intermediate students are invited to work at their own level with guidance from the instructor using a variety of subject matter, including still life subjects and photographs. Projects are adapted to student skill level. Beginners start with drawing. Materials list.

972 Wednesday Night Painting

Take a mid-week break and embrace your creativity! This class offers a friendly and supportive atmosphere and is open to students working at any level. Beginning to advanced instruction in drawing, composition, and color theory is offered through group and individual critiques. Discuss historical references and receive instruction in the proper use of materials. Work in the medium of your choice and from a variety of subject matter. 983 Painting and Drawing
