Members, you can register now for camps. Don't get shut out of your favorite camp. If you would like to become a member, you can do that with your registration.
Nonmembers can begin signing up March 9th.
Follow Your Art 2009, our popular summer camp program, for ages 4 to 14, will run from June 22 through August 21. With more than 60 camps to choose from, the schedule includes classics like Art Start and Comic Book Creation as well as some new additions such as Japanese Calligraphy and Mythical Beasts. Each camp runs 5 days, and most are 3 hours each day (full day camps are noted, times vary). Morning session (AM) is from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and afternoon session (PM) is from 1 to 4 p.m. A supervised lunch hour ($50/wk) is available for campers who will spend the whole day at the museum.

Would you like to volunteer at summer camp? Many adult and teen volunteers are needed for our summer art camp. Volunteers must be able to work full weeks for at least four-hour blocks each day. For more information, please email karen@hunterdonartmuseum.org

Digital Vision

Age 9 - 12
Express your vision. Combine artmaking with digital photography. Using (shared) computers, scanner, a variety of art materials, and your imagination, experiment with flipbooks, still-frame animation, storyboarding, bookmaking, and more. Bring a digital camera and memory card. Please note: This is NOT a photography or computer camp. Instruction focuses on artmaking. Campers MUST know how to operate their own cameras. Bring lunch. Japanese Calligraphy & Sumi-e painting

Age 12 - 15
This is an introductory course in the technique of Kanji style writing of Japanese Calligraphy characters. Learn the ancient style of Sumi-e brush painting of flowers and bamboo. You be will shown how to use a fude (writing brush), and make your sumi (ink) using a suzuri (ink-stone).

Comic Book Illustration & Writing

Hone your skills as a comic book artist! Focus on the world of comic book, or sequential art. Develop characters, story plots and inventive stories while sharpening drawing and writing skills. Fashion Design and Illustration

A week of fashion fun for budding designers! Learn to draw your own fashion figures and design your own line of clothes! If you have already taken this class you may improve on what you have learned last summer plus make a whole new set of accessories! In addition to drawing, each day students make wearable art ie: an embroidered halter-top and a silk-painted head scarf. The camp culminates in an exhibit of the fashion designs and the accessories.
